Meet Herod Agrippa I.

The ruler in the Acts 12 persecution narrative.

Herod Agrippa I: a quiet historically appropriate setting for The ruler in the Acts 12 persecution narrative, with simple understated contextual details; no invented dramatic event

Who was Herod Agrippa I?

Herod Agrippa I was the ruler in Acts 12 who persecuted members of the church. He had James killed and Peter imprisoned. He is not the same ruler as Herod the Great or Herod Antipas.

While Peter was in prison, the church prayed for him. The chapter includes both loss and rescue, so it should not be simplified into a promise that prayer always brings escape.

Herod Agrippa I seated in his royal court giving an order to a guard, serious expressions, no prisoners suffering or violence.
