Bible verses for children

Every person matters.

Genesis 1:27

A diverse family with a boy and girl warmly regards a young child discovering their own hands and reflection in a small mirror, all shown with equal dignity in a peaceful garden
God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27 · World English Bible Classic (WEB)

In simple words

What does this verse mean?

Being made in God’s image means people have a special dignity and a responsibility to represent God’s care in the world. It does not mean everyone has the same face or body. Girls and boys, people with different abilities and people from every country all matter.

If someone needs a different way to join a game, you can help make room for them. Their worth does not depend on being the fastest, speaking like you or doing everything without help.

Talk about it

How can we show that someone matters when they do things differently from us?

Bible context & readings +

Genesis 1:26–31 places the creation of people within God’s good world. People receive responsibility for other living creatures. The verse speaks about humanity together, not just an important ruler or one particular group.
