Getting ready
Age & adult help
Straight trimming is simple; understanding and discussing the printed verses is the larger demand.
Prepare the bookmarks if needed and read or discuss each verse together.
What you’ll need
Printer, paper or light card, colouring pencils or crayons for colour-in designs, scissors. A laminator is optional.
Time & preparation
One standard four-bookmark set, including colouring and cutting. Verse practice is additional.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Genesis 1
Suggested verses to explore: Genesis 1:3, Genesis 1:10, Genesis 1:24, Genesis 1:27
God creates light, land, seas, plants, animals and people. He makes human beings in his image and sees that everything he has made is very good.
Main takeaway: God made the world good, and every person has value.
While you colour
Read a suggested verse aloud. Ask children to find something in their bookmark picture that connects with the passage and explain what they notice.
For younger children, name things in the pictures together. Older children can read Genesis 1:27 and discuss how being made in God’s image affects how we treat others.
Questions to explore
- What is something in creation you are thankful for?
- What do you think “very good” means?
- How can we show care for other people and the world around us?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 2-page PDF: CreationBibleVerse.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
Which pictures and verses are on the bookmarks?
There are four picture fronts and four matching verse backs: light and darkness with Genesis 1:3, land and seas with Genesis 1:10, animals with Genesis 1:24, and people with Genesis 1:27. Match each front to its verse to make four double-sided bookmarks.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 landscape. CreationBibleVerse.pdf: print the pages you want to use for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files. Keep matching construction pages at the same scale. Print both pages for the four front-and-back designs. If you choose duplex printing instead of gluing, test your printer’s alignment on scrap paper first.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Paper or printer-compatible light card, colouring pencils, scissors and glue for joining the fronts and backs. Colour first; lamination is optional.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 6–12 years. Prepare the bookmarks if needed and read or discuss each verse together. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
