01Wisdom is described in many careful wordsThe passage begins by saying wisdom is “the architect of all things” and then names many qualities in her spirit.
Explanation
The passage begins by saying wisdom is “the architect of all things” and then names many qualities in her spirit. These words stress intelligence, holiness, purity, strength, and goodness. Rather than telling a story, the writer builds a layered description so readers see wisdom as active, clear, beneficent, and penetrating.
02Wisdom’s purity means she reaches everywhereWisdom is said to be “more mobile than any motion” and to “pervade” and “penetrate” all things because of her purity.
Explanation
Wisdom is said to be “more mobile than any motion” and to “pervade” and “penetrate” all things because of her purity. The text then uses images to explain this purity: wisdom is a breath of God’s power and a pure emanation of the Almighty’s glory. Because of this, nothing defiled enters her.
03Wisdom reflects God’s light and goodnessThe next images are bright and relational. Wisdom is called a reflection of everlasting light, an unspotted mirror of God’s working, and an image of his goodness.
Explanation
The next images are bright and relational. Wisdom is called a reflection of everlasting light, an unspotted mirror of God’s working, and an image of his goodness. These phrases do not say wisdom is separate from God’s goodness. They show wisdom displaying and reflecting what comes from God.
04Wisdom renews people and orders all things wellThough wisdom is one, she can do all things and renew all things. The text says she passes into holy souls and makes friends of God and prophets.
Explanation
Though wisdom is one, she can do all things and renew all things. The text says she passes into holy souls and makes friends of God and prophets. God loves one who dwells with wisdom. Wisdom is better than light because evil does not prevail against her, and she orders all things well.

Wisdom of Solomon 7:22–30
22for wisdom, that is the architect of all things, taught me. For there is in her a spirit that is quick to understand, holy, unique, manifold, subtle, freely moving, clear in utterance, unpolluted, distinct, invulnerable, loving what is good, keen, unhindered,
23beneficent, loving toward man, steadfast, sure, free from care, all-powerful, all-surveying, and penetrating through all spirits that are quick to understand, pure, most subtle.
24For wisdom is more mobile than any motion. Yes, she pervades and penetrates all things by reason of her purity.
25For she is a breath of the power of God, and a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty. Therefore nothing defiled can find entrance into her.
26For she is a reflection of everlasting light, an unspotted mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness.
27Although she is one, she has power to do all things. Remaining in herself, she renews all things. From generation to generation passing into holy souls, she makes friends of God and prophets.
28For God loves nothing as much as one who dwells with wisdom.
29For she is fairer than the sun, and above all the constellations of the stars. She is better than light.
30For daylight yields to night, but evil does not prevail against wisdom.
Wisdom of Solomon 8:1
1But she reaches from one end to the other with full strength, and orders all things well.
