Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Daniel 1:8–16
Daniel asks not to eat the king’s food and proposes a ten-day test with vegetables and water. The official agrees, and Daniel and his friends are permitted to continue their chosen food.
Main takeaway: Daniel’s decision joins conviction with a respectful request.
As you build Daniel’s bowl
Name the vegetable pieces and water in Daniel’s account, then use the bowl as a reminder of his respectful request.
Compare the royal food with the vegetables and water, then notice how Daniel makes his request. This account is not a nutrition experiment or a promise about appearance.
Younger learners can retell what Daniel asked for. Older learners can discuss how he expressed a conviction respectfully, without turning the story into a test of which child eats best.
Questions to explore
- What did Daniel ask to eat and drink?
- How did he speak to the official?
- How can we explain a conviction respectfully?

Reviews
Perfect craft for a my Bible lesson.
Great craft for lesson, easy
I changed it so that you didn’t have to have the extra sheet of paper to double the bowl. I had them cut a slit on the top of the bowl and put the veggies in it and tape to the back.
