Getting ready

Age & adult help

These activities involve cutting and construction as well as colouring; the reviewed cover shows a folding story layout.

Check the actual template before the session. Prepare awkward cuts and folds for younger children; the full assembly method still needs confirmation.

What you’ll need

Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons, scissors. Confirm whether the template needs glue, tape or extra construction supplies.

Time & preparation

Provisional time for one colouring-and-cutting activity. Reassess when the template is checked.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.

Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.

Printing tips

The story behind the craft

Bible passage: Matthew 28:1–10; Luke 24:1–12

Women come to Jesus’ tomb and discover that he has risen. They hear the news, leave to tell the disciples and begin to understand that the tomb is not the end of Jesus’ story.

Main takeaway: Easter celebrates the good news that Jesus is risen.

While you colour and retell

Look at the story sections before assembling the paper pieces, then connect each section with the reading.

Contrast the sealed tomb with the women’s discovery. Ask how the message changes their expectations and what they do with it.

Younger learners can place or point to the next picture. Older learners can explain which moment is the account’s turning point.

Questions to explore

  • What did the women expect to find?
  • What news did they hear?
  • Who did they go to tell?

Common questions

What files are included in this download?

The download is a 3-page PDF: Easter-Story.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.

Is this a rotating wheel or a folding craft?

The supplied instructions show a folding strip attached to a circular cover. Colour and cut the pieces, fold the strip on the marked lines, then glue its top and bottom ends to the cover as indicated. Open it to reveal the story or writing sections; this version does not need a spinner fastener. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Matthew 28:1–10; Luke 24:1–12.

Which pages should I print, and at what size?

The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. Easter-Story.pdf: print pages 2, 3 for each learner or group. Page 1 is the assembly guide, which can be shared. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.

What supplies and preparation does this need?

Paper, colouring pencils, scissors and glue. Help make the strip folds and attach the ends without gluing the opening sections shut.

What help might children need with this activity?

Suggested ages: 6–10 years. Help with the cover cuts, concertina folds and gluing the marked ends. Read the story or writing prompts aloud where needed. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
