Getting ready
Age & adult help
The reviewed multi-page packs have detailed scenes and printed story or verse text, rather than only large preschool shapes.
Select a picture to suit the child and read any text aloud. Younger children can colour larger areas without completing every small detail.
What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. No cutting or gluing is assumed for a colouring sheet.
Time & preparation
Whole six-page colouring pack. Estimate 10–20 minutes per page; pages can be split across lessons.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Daniel 3:1–30
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refuse to worship the king’s image. They say God can rescue them but remain faithful even if he does not; in the furnace a fourth figure appears, and they emerge unharmed.
Main takeaway: Their faithfulness does not depend on being promised an easy rescue.
While you colour
Choose one illustration and read the part of the passage it represents.
Notice the golden image, the refusal and the fourth figure. Read their words before the furnace, especially the phrase about what happens if they are not rescued.
With younger learners, name the visible people and actions together. Older learners can compare the picture with the passage and distinguish the text from an illustrator’s added details.
Questions to explore
- What were the men told to worship?
- What did they say before entering the furnace?
- How is a conviction different from doing something only for a reward?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 6-page PDF: 38_ThreeMenintheFieryFurnace_Daniel3.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
Do I need to make a model?
These are six separate illustrated colouring sheets. Choose a scene to colour and discuss, or use the sheets over several sessions. They are flat pages, so no cutting or assembly is required. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Daniel 3:1–30.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 landscape. 38_ThreeMenintheFieryFurnace_Daniel3.pdf: print the pages you want to use for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Ordinary printer paper and colouring pencils or crayons. Choose one sheet at a time rather than expecting children to finish all six in one sitting.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 5–12 years. Select a picture to suit the child and read any text aloud. Younger children can colour larger areas without completing every small detail. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
