Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Luke 7:36–50
At a meal in a Pharisee’s house, a woman weeps at Jesus’ feet and anoints them. Jesus tells a story about forgiven debts and challenges his host’s judgment of her.
Main takeaway: Jesus connects forgiveness with love and challenges contempt towards another person.
Before you assemble the story
Lay out the illustrated circles and discuss their order before turning them into the finished paper craft.
Compare the host’s assumptions with Jesus’ welcome and the two-debt parable. Keep this account distinct from Mary anointing Jesus at Bethany in John 12.
Younger learners can match a spoken event to a picture. Older learners can retell the account from different sections and check it against the passage.
Questions to explore
- How did the host judge the woman?
- What did the debt story help explain?
- How can assumptions stop us seeing a person’s dignity?
