Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Mark 4:35–41
Jesus sleeps while a storm threatens the disciples’ boat. They wake him in fear; he commands the wind and sea to be still, and the disciples wonder who he is.
Main takeaway: The calming of the storm leads the disciples to ask about Jesus’ authority.
While you use the cards
Read one question at a time and look back at the passage when an answer needs explaining.
Compare the noisy storm, Jesus sleeping and the sudden calm. Invite conversation about asking for help without suggesting prayer removes every danger.
Allow younger learners a partner or an oral answer. Older learners can explain the evidence for an answer rather than relying only on the answer guide.
Questions to explore
- Why did the disciples wake Jesus?
- What changed when he spoke?
- What question did they ask afterwards?
