Printing tips

The story behind the craft

Bible passage: Luke 8:40–48

A woman who has suffered bleeding for twelve years approaches Jesus in a crowd and touches his clothing. Jesus stops to hear her story and addresses her with dignity after she comes forward trembling.

Main takeaway: Jesus notices a person whose need could have remained hidden in the crowd.

Before you assemble the story

Lay out the illustrated circles and discuss their order before turning them into the finished paper craft.

Follow the crowd, the touch, Jesus stopping and the conversation. Speak respectfully about illness and do not describe suffering as proof of weak faith.

Younger learners can match a spoken event to a picture. Older learners can retell the account from different sections and check it against the passage.

Questions to explore

  • Why might the woman have approached quietly?
  • Why is Jesus stopping important?
  • How can we make room to hear someone who is easily overlooked?
