Printing tips

The story behind the craft

Bible passage: Acts 8:26–40

Philip meets an Ethiopian official reading Isaiah in a chariot. The man asks for help understanding, Philip explains the good news about Jesus, and they stop for baptism before the man continues joyfully.

Main takeaway: Questions and willing explanation help Scripture become understood.

Before you assemble the story

Lay out the illustrated circles and discuss their order before turning them into the finished paper craft.

Connect the scroll, conversation, water and onward journey. Notice the official’s questions instead of assuming understanding happens without help.

Younger learners can match a spoken event to a picture. Older learners can retell the account from different sections and check it against the passage.

Questions to explore

  • What was the official reading?
  • What question did he ask Philip?
  • What makes someone a helpful person to learn with?
