Getting ready
Age & adult help
Following several illustrated panels and reading speech or story text adds a literacy demand to the colouring.
Read panels aloud and help children follow their order. Check the story and wording before using it with younger children.
What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. An adult reader may be helpful for younger children.
Time & preparation
One comic page, including colouring. Shared reading and discussion are additional.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Genesis 24
Abraham’s servant seeks a wife for Isaac and prays for guidance. At a well Rebekah offers water for him and his camels; after discussion with her family, she agrees to travel and meets Isaac.
Main takeaway: Rebekah’s practical generosity becomes important in the family’s story.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Notice the work involved in watering the camels and Rebekah’s own answer when asked about travelling. Avoid presenting kindness as a way to earn a marriage.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- What extra help did Rebekah offer?
- Was she asked about going on the journey?
- What can generous help look like in an ordinary task?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 1-page PDF: RebekahattheWell_Genesis24.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
Is this a comic to read or a colouring sheet?
It combines both on one page: outlined comic panels with story captions. Read the panels in sequence, then colour and talk about the illustrated moments. It is a flat printable, with no paper mechanism to assemble. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Genesis 24.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. RebekahattheWell_Genesis24.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Printer paper and colouring pencils or crayons. An adult can read the captions and help children follow the order of the panels.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 7–12 years. Read panels aloud and help children follow their order. Check the story and wording before using it with younger children. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
