Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Judges 16:1–3
The people of Gaza plan to trap Samson at the city gate. He leaves at midnight, lifting the gate doors and posts and carrying them away to a hill.
Main takeaway: The gate episode displays Samson’s extraordinary strength within a dangerous conflict.
Before you assemble the story
Lay out the illustrated circles and discuss their order before turning them into the finished paper craft.
Notice the closed city gate and its removal. Keep this episode distinct from the later destruction of the temple and avoid strength competitions about breaking things.
Younger learners can match a spoken event to a picture. Older learners can retell the account from different sections and check it against the passage.
Questions to explore
- What trap was planned?
- What did Samson carry away?
- How is physical strength different from wise judgment?
