Getting ready
Age & adult help
The outside shape and door-handle opening need more controlled cutting than a straight bookmark.
Prepare the door-handle opening and help with curved edges. Younger children can colour an adult-prepared hanger.
What you’ll need
Printer, paper or light card, colouring pencils or crayons, scissors. An adult may need to cut the handle opening.
Time & preparation
One door hanger, including colouring and cutting. Teaching time is additional.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested. Spanish reading support may be needed. Website copy is in English.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Daniel 3:1–30
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refuse to worship the king’s image. They say God can rescue them but remain faithful even if he does not; in the furnace a fourth figure appears, and they emerge unharmed.
Main takeaway: Their faithfulness does not depend on being promised an easy rescue.
Before you hang it up
Read the words on the hanger and connect the design with the passage before choosing a place for it.
Notice the golden image, the refusal and the fourth figure. Read their words before the furnace, especially the phrase about what happens if they are not rescued.
Younger learners can explain the pictured event in their own words. Older learners can choose one idea from the reading to remember when they see the hanger again.
Questions to explore
- What were the men told to worship?
- What did they say before entering the furnace?
- How is a conviction different from doing something only for a reward?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 2-page PDF: 046_Tres_hombres_en_el_horno_de_fuego.pdf. The story artwork is the Spanish edition; supplied assembly guides may use English labels. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
How do I make the door hanger?
Colour the illustrated hanger, cut around its outline and prepare the handle opening. Use the finished sign to retell the pictured account before hanging it on a suitable door handle. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Daniel 3:1–30.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. 046_Tres_hombres_en_el_horno_de_fuego.pdf: print page 2 for each learner or group. Page 1 is the assembly guide, which can be shared. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Paper or printer-compatible light card, colouring pencils and scissors. An adult should help with the handle opening and tight curves. The hanger is a printable cut-out, not a supplied physical door sign.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 6–10 years. Prepare the door-handle opening and help with curved edges. Younger children can colour an adult-prepared hanger. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
