Revelation 15: The Song of Moses and the Lamb
Revelation 15:1–4; Revelation 15:5–8
In this vision, John hears a victory song that praises God’s works, ways, holiness, and rule over the nations. The passage stays in the language of sign, image, and song, inviting readers to listen carefully to what is sung. This lesson also brings together Preparation for Judgment.
Before you teach
These verses present a great and marvellous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues, because in them God’s wrath is finished. Alongside that sign, John sees a sea of glass mixed with fire and people who overcame the beast standing there with harps, ready to sing praise. The passage itself gives the words of their song.
Explain the central teaching of Revelation 15: The Song of Moses and the Lamb, using two details from the reading. This song teaches that God is praised as holy, righteous, true, and worthy of worship from all nations. This vision presents God’s judgement as holy, powerful, and certain to be completed.

Read and explain the passage
12 minThe Song of Moses and the Lamb (Revelation 15:1–4): The passage opens with a sign in the sky: seven angels holding seven last plagues. The text explains why they matter: in them God’s wrath is finished. This gives the scene a serious weight before the song begins, and it frames the praise that follows with God’s final judgement already in view.
Preparation for Judgment (Revelation 15:5–8): John says, “I looked”, reminding us this is a vision report. What he sees is “the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven”. The language joins temple and tabernacle imagery and places the scene in heaven. The opening of the temple shows that what follows is located in God’s heavenly temple.

Revelation 15
1 I saw another great and marvelous sign in the sky: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them God’s wrath is finished.
2 I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.
3 They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty! Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations.
4 Who wouldn’t fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed.”
5 After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.
6 The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their chests.
7 One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.
8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.
