Elisha Feeds a Hundred People
Elisha told a servant to serve a small gift of food to many people, and Yahweh made his word stand true.
A man came from Baal Shalishah to Elisha, the man of God. He brought bread from the first fruits: twenty barley loaves and fresh ears of grain in his sack. It was a simple gift of food from the harvest.
Elisha said that the food should be given to the people so they could eat. He did not speak about saving it. He told his servant to set it before them.
The servant was unsure. How could this be enough for a hundred men? But Elisha gave the command again, because Yahweh had said that the people would eat and would have some left over.
So the servant set the food before them. The people ate, and there was food left over, just as Yahweh had said. What Elisha announced came true.
This brief account points to the truth of Yahweh's word. The amount looked small, but it was enough when the servant obeyed. What do you notice here about listening to God's word even when the situation seems too small?
