Jesus Heals a Deaf Man
Near the Sea of Galilee, Jesus healed a deaf man who had trouble speaking clearly.
Jesus travelled on from the region of Tyre and Sidon and came to the Sea of Galilee through the area of the Decapolis. There, people brought him a man who was deaf and had difficulty speaking. They begged Jesus to lay his hand on him.
Jesus took the man away from the crowd to a private place. There he put his fingers in the man’s ears. Then he spat and touched the man’s tongue.
Jesus looked up to heaven and sighed. Then he said a word that meant, “Be opened.”
Immediately the man’s ears were opened. The problem in his speech was released, and he began to speak clearly.
Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he told them, the more widely they spread the news. People were amazed beyond measure. They said he had done all things well, because he made even the deaf hear and the mute speak.
