Jesus Heals People at Gennesaret
After arriving at Gennesaret, Jesus was recognised at once, and sick people were brought to him from all around the region.
After crossing over, Jesus and his disciples came to the land of Gennesaret. Mark says they moored at the shore, and as soon as they got out of the boat, people recognised Jesus.
The people of that place spread the news. Matthew says they sent word through all the surrounding region. Mark says people ran around the whole area and brought the sick to the place where they heard Jesus was.
Many sick people were brought to Jesus. Mark adds that some were carried on mats. Wherever Jesus went, in villages, cities, or the countryside, people placed the sick in the marketplaces.
They begged that the sick might just touch the fringe of Jesus' garment. It was a simple, urgent request from people who wanted help for those who were suffering.
And all who touched were made well. This short scene shows how quickly the people responded when they recognised Jesus and brought their sick to him. What do you notice about their eagerness to seek his help?
