The Lost Coin
Jesus told of a woman searching carefully for one lost coin to show the joy when a sinner repents.
Jesus told another parable. He spoke of a woman who had ten coins, but one was lost. She lit a lamp, swept the house, and searched carefully. The coin mattered to her, so she kept looking until she found it.
When the woman found the coin, she wanted others to share her happiness. She called her friends and neighbours together and asked them to rejoice with her, because the coin that had been lost was now found.
Then Jesus explained the parable. In the same way, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. This little story shows that one person turning back to God truly matters.
