Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Mark 8:1–10
Jesus is concerned for a crowd that has been with him for three days without enough food. Seven loaves and a few fish are shared after thanksgiving; about four thousand people eat and seven baskets remain.
Main takeaway: Jesus’ compassion attends to people’s practical hunger.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Count the seven loaves and baskets within this account. Keep it separate from the feeding of five thousand with five loaves, two fish and twelve baskets.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- Why was Jesus concerned about the crowd going home?
- What food was available here?
- How can noticing someone’s practical needs be an act of compassion?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?

Is this a comic to read or a colouring sheet?
