Printing tips

The story behind the craft

Bible passage: Isaiah 6:1–8

Isaiah sees a vision of the Lord’s holiness and becomes aware of his own unclean speech. After receiving cleansing, he responds to the call for a messenger by offering to be sent.

Main takeaway: Isaiah’s response to God moves from awe and confession towards service.

While you colour the panels

Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.

Trace the throne, cleansing and response. Discuss careful speech and willingness to serve without pretending the craft recreates Isaiah’s vision.

Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.

Questions to explore

  • How did Isaiah first respond to the vision?
  • What changed before he offered to go?
  • How can our words be used to help rather than hurt?

Common questions

What files are included in this download?

The download is a 1-page PDF: IsaiahsCall.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.

Is this a comic to read or a colouring sheet?

It combines both on one page: outlined comic panels with story captions. Read the panels in sequence, then colour and talk about the illustrated moments. It is a flat printable, with no paper mechanism to assemble. Printed captions include “Isaiah feels unworthy and afraid as the angels praise God” and “Isaiah sees God in the temple, surrounded by angels”.

Which pages should I print, and at what size?

The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. IsaiahsCall.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.

What supplies and preparation does this need?

Printer paper and colouring pencils or crayons. An adult can read the captions and help children follow the order of the panels.

What help might children need with this activity?

Suggested ages: 7–12 years. Read panels aloud and help children follow their order. Check the story and wording before using it with younger children. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
