Printing tips

The story behind the craft

Bible passage: Matthew 21:12–17

Jesus confronts buying and selling in the temple and calls it a house of prayer. The account also describes blind and lame people coming to him and children praising him.

Main takeaway: The temple account asks what worship is for and who is welcomed.

While you colour the panels

Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.

Look beyond the overturned tables to the people receiving care and the children praising. The passage does not give permission to damage property when angry.

Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.

Questions to explore

  • What did Jesus say the temple was for?
  • Who came to him there?
  • What helps a place of worship be welcoming and caring?
