Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Luke 1:5–25, 57–80
Zechariah and Elizabeth receive the promise of a son who will prepare people for the Lord. At his birth he is named John, and Zechariah’s speech returns as he praises God.
Main takeaway: John’s birth introduces his calling to prepare the way for Jesus.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Follow the announcement, waiting, naming and praise. Distinguish John’s parents and birth from Mary, Joseph and the birth of Jesus.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
