Getting ready
Age & adult help
Following several illustrated panels and reading speech or story text adds a literacy demand to the colouring.
Read panels aloud and help children follow their order. Check the story and wording before using it with younger children.
What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. An adult reader may be helpful for younger children.
Time & preparation
One comic page, including colouring. Shared reading and discussion are additional.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Judges 13–16
Samson is set apart from birth and given extraordinary strength, but his decisions repeatedly bring conflict and loss. His story ends in captivity and a final act against the Philistines.
Main takeaway: Strength does not replace wisdom, restraint or responsibility.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Locate the scenes represented within Samson’s longer life. Keep strength as a point for reflection rather than encouraging children to imitate attacks or destruction.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- How was Samson’s life set apart?
- Which decisions caused harm?
- How could someone use strength to protect and help instead?

Is this a comic to read or a colouring sheet?

The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. StoryofSamson_Judg13_16.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
