What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. An adult reader may be helpful for younger children.
Time & preparation

Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: John 12:1–8
At a meal in Bethany, Mary anoints Jesus’ feet with costly perfume and wipes them with her hair. Judas objects, but Jesus recognises the act in relation to his approaching burial.
Main takeaway: Mary’s costly act honours Jesus as his death approaches.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Notice Mary, the perfume and Jesus’ response. Keep this Bethany scene separate from Luke 7’s account of a woman in a Pharisee’s house.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- What did Mary do with the perfume?
- What objection was raised?
- How can an act of care carry meaning beyond its price?
