Getting ready
Age & adult help
Following several illustrated panels and reading speech or story text adds a literacy demand to the colouring.

What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons. An adult reader may be helpful for younger children.
Time & preparation
One comic page, including colouring. Shared reading and discussion are additional.
Age is an editorial estimate for the motor and reading demands of this format. Difficulty, completion time and suggested tools are planning estimates, not build-tested.
Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: John 21:1–14
After Jesus’ resurrection, the disciples fish through the night without success. A figure on the shore tells them where to cast the net; they recognise Jesus and share the breakfast he has prepared.
Main takeaway: The risen Jesus meets his disciples with provision and a shared meal.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Notice the night’s empty net, the catch and the breakfast on the shore. Keep this post-resurrection meeting separate from the initial call of fishermen in Luke 5.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- When did the disciples recognise Jesus?
- What was waiting on the shore?
- How can sharing a meal express welcome and care?
