Check the file before you print for a group, and allow for any extra help the kids might need.
Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Luke 19:1–10
Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see Jesus. Jesus calls him by name and visits his house; Zacchaeus responds by promising generosity and restitution for dishonest taking.
Main takeaway: A changed response to Jesus includes putting wrongs right.
While you colour the panels
Read the panels in order, pausing at a change in a character’s action or understanding.
Connect the tree and welcome with Zacchaeus’ promise about money. Move beyond saying sorry to what repairing harm could involve.
Younger learners can describe an action in one panel. Older learners can compare a caption with its Bible passage and discuss what a short comic leaves out.
Questions to explore
- Why did Zacchaeus climb the tree?
- What did he promise to change?
- How is putting something right different from only saying sorry?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 1-page PDF: ZacchaeustheTaxCollector_Luke191_10.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
Is this a comic to read or a colouring sheet?
It combines both on one page: outlined comic panels with story captions. Read the panels in sequence, then colour and talk about the illustrated moments. It is a flat printable, with no paper mechanism to assemble. Printed captions include “Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore tree because he was too short” and “Zacchaeus, a tax collector, wanted to see Jesus in Jericho”.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 portrait. ZacchaeustheTaxCollector_Luke191_10.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
