Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
Jesus visits Martha’s house, where he teaches what matters most.
As they travelled along, Jesus entered a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. During this visit, Jesus taught a lesson through what happened in the home.
Martha had a sister named Mary. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to his teaching. She gave her attention to his words.
Martha, however, was distracted by all the serving that needed to be done. She came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me.”
Jesus answered Martha by name. He told her that she was anxious and troubled about many things. Martha was working hard, but she was also weighed down by worry.
Then Jesus said that one thing was needed. Mary had chosen the good part, and it would not be taken away from her. This visit reminds us to make room to listen when Jesus speaks.
