Thomas Meets the Risen Jesus

Thomas hears that Jesus is alive, struggles to believe it, and then meets the risen Jesus for himself.

John 20:24–29About 2 minutes
Let’s begin

Thomas, one of the twelve disciples, had not been with the others when Jesus first came to them. Later, the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord."

What happened next

But Thomas did not accept their report straight away. He said he would not believe unless he saw the mark of the nails in Jesus’ hands and touched the marks and Jesus’ side.

What happened next

Eight days later, the disciples were indoors again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, yet Jesus came and stood among them and spoke peace to them.

What happened next

Then Jesus turned to Thomas. He told him to bring his finger to his hands and his hand to his side. Jesus called Thomas to stop being unbelieving and to believe.

The end

Thomas answered Jesus, calling him his Lord and his God. Jesus said Thomas had believed because he had seen him, and he spoke a blessing on those who have not seen and yet believe.
