Timothy Joins Paul and Silas
Paul met Timothy, whose good reputation made him a helpful companion on the journey through the cities.
Paul came to Derbe and to Lystra. There he found a disciple named Timothy. Timothy’s mother was Jewish and believed, and his father was Greek.
Timothy was already known among the believers. The brothers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him, so Paul could see that Timothy had a good reputation.
Paul wanted Timothy to go with him. So Paul circumcised him because of the Jews in those places, since they all knew that Timothy’s father was Greek.
As they travelled through the cities, they delivered the decrees that had been decided by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem, so the believers would keep them.
The assemblies were strengthened in the faith and grew in number day by day. What do you notice about how Timothy’s good reputation and this shared teaching helped the churches?
