Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Revelation 21:1–22:5
John sees a new heaven and earth and the holy city, where God dwells with his people. Tears, death and pain pass away, and the final vision includes life, light and restored fellowship.
Main takeaway: The new-creation vision offers hope in God’s presence and the ending of sorrow.
As you unroll the passage
Read the scroll a section at a time and explain the words before rolling it up again.
Notice the city, light, river or tree where represented, and connect them with the passage’s promises. Allow children to ask questions without claiming the artwork shows every detail literally.
Younger learners can listen and repeat a short meaningful phrase. Older learners can explain the reading in their own words before practising recall.
Questions to explore
- What sorrows does the passage say will end?
- What does God dwelling with people mean in this vision?
- How can hope encourage care for people who are hurting now?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 1-page PDF: NewHeavenandNewEarth.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
How do I turn the sheet into a scroll?
Colour the illustrated page and roll its two side edges towards the centre. For a sturdier classroom version, attach the side edges to two paper straws or wooden craft sticks and roll them inwards. Unroll the page gradually as you retell or read it. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Revelation 21:1–22:5.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 landscape. NewHeavenandNewEarth.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Paper and colouring pencils. Paper straws or craft sticks with glue or tape are an optional support, not included physical supplies. An adult can prepare the handles.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 6–10 years. Help attach the handles and roll the edges neatly. Read the story text together. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
