Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Exodus 7–12
Pharaoh repeatedly refuses to release the enslaved Israelites. A series of plagues exposes the struggle between Pharaoh’s power and God’s demand that the people go; the story leads into Passover and the Exodus.
Main takeaway: Pharaoh’s refusal to release the people brings suffering, while God acts to free them.
As you open the story book
Open the folds gradually, using the revealed sections to retell the account.
Track Pharaoh’s repeated refusal rather than treating the plagues as a list of exciting disasters. Read the final plague with adult guidance and connect it to the Exodus.
An adult can read one section while a younger child points to its picture. Older learners can close the book, retell it and reopen it to check the sequence.
Questions to explore
- What was Pharaoh being asked to do?
- How did his decisions affect others?
- What would a leader who listened have done differently?
