Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Genesis 18:1–15; 21:1–7
Abraham welcomes three visitors, and Sarah hears a promise that she will have a son despite her age. She laughs in disbelief, but the later birth of Isaac brings a different kind of laughter.
Main takeaway: Sarah’s account moves from an astonishing promise to the joy of Isaac’s birth.
As you arrange the scene
Discuss the characters and setting before placing the cut-out pieces on the background.
Compare the visitors’ announcement with the later birth. Keep the years of waiting in view rather than suggesting every unlikely wish has been promised.
Younger learners can name the people and describe their positions. Older learners can explain the moment being represented and distinguish the passage from choices made in the illustration.
Questions to explore
- Why did Sarah laugh at the announcement?
- How did her laughter change after Isaac’s birth?
- How can we speak kindly when someone finds something difficult to believe?

What files are included in this download?
The download is a 2-page PDF: SarahLaughsatGods.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
What do children cut and arrange?
The two-page PDF provides the illustrated scene/background and separate cut-out pieces. Colour the pieces, cut them out and try their positions on the background before gluing the final scene. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Genesis 18:1–15; 21:1–7.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 landscape. SarahLaughsatGods.pdf: print the pages you want to use for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
