Age & adult help

What you’ll need
Printer, paper, colouring pencils or crayons, scissors, glue. Pencils, straws or craft sticks form the scroll handles.

Printing tipsThe story behind the craft
Bible passage: Matthew 18:21–35
A servant is released from an enormous debt but then refuses mercy to someone who owes him much less. When the master hears what happened, he confronts the servant’s failure to pass on mercy.
Main takeaway: Receiving mercy calls for a merciful response towards others.
As you unroll the passage
Read the scroll a section at a time and explain the words before rolling it up again.
Compare the two debts and the servant’s very different responses. Discuss forgiveness alongside fair boundaries and putting harm right.
Younger learners can listen and repeat a short meaningful phrase. Older learners can explain the reading in their own words before practising recall.
Questions to explore
- What was the servant first forgiven?
- How did he treat the other person?
- What would passing on mercy have looked like?
Common questions
What files are included in this download?
The download is a 1-page PDF: TheUnforgivingServant.pdf. This is the English edition. You print the files yourself; physical supplies are not included.
How do I turn the sheet into a scroll?
Colour the illustrated page and roll its two side edges towards the centre. For a sturdier classroom version, attach the side edges to two paper straws or wooden craft sticks and roll them inwards. Unroll the page gradually as you retell or read it. For a Bible reading to accompany this activity, use Matthew 18:21–35.
Which pages should I print, and at what size?
The original PDF pages are A4 landscape. TheUnforgivingServant.pdf: print the page for each learner or group. Print single-sided. On US Letter paper, select Letter and Fit or shrink to the printable area; the originals are not separate Letter-sized files.
What supplies and preparation does this need?
Paper and colouring pencils. Paper straws or craft sticks with glue or tape are an optional support, not included physical supplies. An adult can prepare the handles.
What help might children need with this activity?
Suggested ages: 6–10 years. Help attach the handles and roll the edges neatly. Read the story text together. Adjust this guide for the child’s reading and making skills.
