Jesus Turns Water into Wine

At a wedding in Cana, Jesus did his first sign and revealed his glory.

John 2:1–11About 2 minutes
Let’s begin

On the third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited. During the celebration, the wine ran out.

What happened next

Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no wine.” Jesus answered that his hour had not yet come. Then she said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”

What happened next

Nearby were six stone water pots used for Jewish purification. Jesus told the servants to fill them with water, and they filled them to the brim. Then he told them to draw some out and take it to the ruler of the feast.

What happened next

The ruler of the feast tasted the water that had become wine. He did not know where it had come from, though the servants knew. He called the bridegroom and said that the good wine had been kept until now.

The end

This was the beginning of Jesus’ signs in Cana of Galilee. In this sign he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
