Paul and Barnabas Choose Different Routes
Paul and Barnabas planned to revisit believers, but a sharp disagreement changed their journey.
After some days, Paul suggested a return visit. He wanted to go back to the cities where they had proclaimed the word of the Lord and see how the believers were doing.
Barnabas planned to take John, who was also called Mark. Paul did not think that was a good idea, because Mark had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.
The disagreement became so sharp that Paul and Barnabas separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.
Paul chose Silas and set out. The brothers commended Paul to the grace of God, and he travelled through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the assemblies.
This short account tells the truth about both care and conflict. Paul wanted to revisit the believers, Barnabas wanted to take Mark, and they could not agree. After they parted, Paul continued on his route, strengthening the assemblies. What does this passage show you about serving God during disagreement?
