Peter and John Help a Man Walk

At the temple gate, Peter and John met a man who had never been able to walk and saw Jesus bring help to him.

Acts 3:1–10About 2 minutes
Let’s begin

At the hour of prayer, Peter and John were going up to the temple. At the gate called Beautiful, people were carrying a man who had been unable to walk since birth. Each day they placed him there so he could ask those entering for help.

What happened next

When the man saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for help. Peter looked straight at him, and John was there with him. Peter said, “Look at us.” So the man watched them closely, expecting to receive something from them.

What happened next

Peter said that he did not have silver or gold to give. But he would give what he did have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he told the man to get up and walk. Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up.

What happened next

At once the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped up, stood, and began to walk. Then he went with Peter and John into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.

The end

All the people saw him walking and praising God. They recognised him as the same man who had sat at the Beautiful Gate asking for help. The crowd was full of wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. How do you think the man felt as he entered the temple praising God?
