The Yeast in the Dough
Jesus compared God’s kingdom to yeast working quietly through a large batch of flour.
Jesus told a short parable about God’s kingdom. In Matthew, he spoke another parable and said the kingdom of heaven is like yeast. In Luke, he again asked what he should compare God’s kingdom to.
Jesus said it is like yeast that a woman took and hid in three measures of meal or flour. The yeast was placed into a large amount, and it did its work there.
The yeast kept working until all of it was leavened. Jesus used this everyday picture to speak about God’s kingdom. Where do you see quiet change spreading all through something?
